Biography

Emily received her Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Emily was granted extensive stage experience opportunities during her undergraduate career including roles and opera scenes performing as Meg and Joe March in Adamo’s Little Women, Elizabeth Proctor in Ward’s The Crucible, The 3rd Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Mercédès in Bizet’s Carmen, the Mezzo Lay-sister in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, Anne Page in Nicolai’s The Merry Wives of Windsor, and the 2nd Woman in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. During her time in Pennsylvania, she participated in the opera in every capacity that she could. Her love and passion for the Pittsburgh Opera grew deeper with every performance on the Benedum Center Stage. She was a supernumerary in three operas before she was accepted as a chorister at the age of 21. As an AGMA Union member, she performed as a soprano chorister in Pittsburgh Opera's 2018 production of Puccini’s Madame Butterfly.

 

In the summers between, Emily has participated in several programs and competitions. The boundless opportunities and administrative support allowed her to continue to perfect her skills. She has participated in the Land of Enchantment Opera Institute, Opera Breve, Bologna International Opera Institute, Vann Vocal Institute, and was a Smith Young Artist at Cedar Rapids Opera in January of 2024. Emily had the opportunity to perform in many scene performances including Suor Osmina in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, Fiordiligi from Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Fidalma in Cimarosa’s Il Matrimonio Segreto, the 1st Spirit in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, and a chorister in Poulenc’s Mamelles de Tiresias. Emily has competed in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition on the district level, was a semi-finalist in the Fiorenza Cossotto International Voice Competition, and a finalist in the Vann Vocal Institute’s Emerging Artists Recital.

 

Following her undergraduate degree, Emily continued her education at Indiana University to pursue a Master of Music in Voice Performance. She enjoyed several master classes, acting classes and seminars, extensive language education in German, Italian, and French, doctoral vocal pedagogy, scene performances, and recitals during her time at the Jacob's School of Music. Scenes and performances include; Zerlina in Act II of Mozart’s Don Giovanni and the Gypsy Woman in Rachmaninoff’s Aleko. Emily now resides in Minnesota and is honored to be coached under Eric McEnaney and studying voice under the instruction of Tracey Engleman. Emily's voice has been described as rich, plummy, healthy, full, creamy, and thrilling. The core of Emily's being is her music. Her passion from a young age was to perform, sing, and entertain. She is proud of her past accomplishments as a musician and is looking forward to continuing the Young Artist and Resident Artist stage of her career.
